Hijinx’s Unity Festival is one of Europe’s largest inclusive arts festivals and the only one of its kind in Wales. We created it in 2008 to provide an opportunity for disabled, learning disabled and/or autistic artists to perform on a high-profile platform.
Mission Control 2019.
A co-production with National Theatre of Wales to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the moon landings. Performed at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff and featuring over 80 performers, including Hijinx Actors, this was a show like no other. A Hijinx Unity event, presented in lieu of our usual festival.
Unity Festival 2017 – Caernarfon.
For the first time, we transported Unity Festival to beautiful Caernarfon where performers took over the Victoria Dock, the town square, Galeri Arts Centre and the world heritage site, Castell Caernarfon.
Unity Festival 2016 – Cardiff.
Over two weeks, artists from Sweden, Spain, France, Germany, Ethiopia and the UK performed across Cardiff: at the Wales Millennium Centre, The Other Room at Porter's and The Hayes in Cardiff's city centre.
Unity Festival 2015 – Cardiff.
Performers from Mozambique, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy and the UK showcased some of the best disability arts, including classical Swedish theatre, flamenco, tequila-filled dance and an homage to Frida Kahlo.
