Case Study: Meet Fred in South Korea 案例：韩国戏剧项目《遇见弗雷德（Meet Fred）》.
In October 2024, Hijinx partnered with the Wooran Foundation in Seoul to explore adapting Meet Fred for Korean performers and audiences. A residency brought learning disabled artists and puppeteers together to develop a culturally rooted version of the show. This international exchange deepened understanding of performance traditions and opened new touring possibilities in Asia.
Hijinx remains committed to creative collaboration across cultures, delivering a story with universal appeal while empowering local artists to shape it.

Meet Fred《遇见弗莱德（MEET FRED）》.
Following a sell-out run at Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the production has enjoyed 10 years of making audiences laugh, gasp, and rethink the world around them, while remaining as urgent and relevant today as ever.
Fred is a cloth puppet just trying to live an ordinary life – get a job, find love, be part of society. But with his Puppetry Living Allowance under threat, Fred’s world spirals out of control. How do you hold on to independence when the system is designed to pull the strings?

Astronauts《宇航员（ASTRONAUTS）》.
Six astronauts, suited up for deep space, touch down on a mysterious new planet – only to find they’re not alone. What follows is a tender, gently funny journey into first contact: Who are these curious earthlings? Why do they wave back? And…could it be we’re not so different after all?
Astronauts is a visually striking, walkabout performance that blends clowning with a touch of sci-fi wonder. Told entirely without words – using gesture, sound and playful interaction – it creates simple, affecting moments that invite audiences of all ages to imagine connection across difference.
The show can travel with our full UK cast, or be brought to life by a mix of local performers and Hijinx artists, performing side by side after just a few days of workshops/rehearsals.

The Audience 《观众（THE AUDIENCE）》.
They’re coming. Chairs in hand. A crowd gathers. They move as one, then not at all. Chairs snap open. Pathways collide. The impossible starts to take shape. What begins as something familiar becomes something stranger, more playful, more dangerous. Finding the show in the every day, The Audience is a bold exploration of togetherness, disruption, and the delicate balance between control and collapse, building towards a breathtaking final image that shouldn’t stand…but somehow does.
The Audience is a creative residency which builds to a performance with up to 30 performers, including local artists, over 3-4 days of workshops/rehearsals, delivering scale, impact, and joyful community engagement.
