Drama Foundations North Tutor Call Out

Are you a theatre, performing arts, or creative professional working in North Wales?.

Hijinx are looking for Facilitators (Tutors) and Assistant Facilitators to help deliver our Drama Foundations programme for learning disabled and/or autistic individuals.

Our Drama Foundations classes take place once a week throughout the year and provide a fun, social and relaxed space where adults with learning disabilities and/or autism can learn drama, music and movement skills. We break for one week at Easter and two weeks at Christmas.

Our North Wales Drama Foundations programme is relaunching soon.

Tutors.

Hijinx are looking for established performance artists currently working within the industry to tutor on their North based Drama Foundations course.

There is no official curriculum, therefore our Tutors can focus on whatever their specialism is. Tutors plan and lead the session in their chosen specialism in consultation with Hijinx’s Head of Participation (PAWB), Jon Dafydd-Kidd.

Advantages to becoming a Hijinx Tutor:

• You get to work with our incredible cohort of learning disabled and/or neurodivergent actors.

• You get the chance to expand/explore your own practice and learn more about working in an inclusive environment.

• There is no official curriculum, therefore our facilitators can focus on whatever their specialism is.

• Our Tutors can become involved in other Hijinx projects, whether as part of our devising teams, or to lead on their own projects with us.

• Flexibility – We rota on a termly basis based on our Tutor’s availability, allowing you plenty of time to plan your other commitments around your tutoring.

• We understand that as freelancers, occasionally opportunities come up which cannot be turned down, therefore we are happy for cover to be arranged from our pool of tutors when necessary.

• All Tutors also have access to our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) and other freelancer support channels.

• We also have our North Young People’s Theatre and Academy groups operating in the area, so once a Tutor there may be the opportunity to span all North based activity.

Our Tutor rates are £170 per day, or £85 per half day inclusive of travel. A Drama Foundations Day typically runs from 9.15am – 3.15pm.

Assistant Facilitators.

We are looking for individuals who are good team players, with effective communication skills and a background/knowledge of the arts to join our pool of freelancers as Assistant Facilitators in the North.

Assistant Facilitators assist the tutor by ensuring all participants are following the session and can engage and participate fully; often they join in with the exercises and lead by example. The Assistant Facilitator is also the first port of call to deal with any behavioural issues or incidents that may arise in session, so the Tutor is able to keep the overall session on track.

The Assistant Facilitator is responsible for registers and daily logs which are entered electronically through Salesforce.

Advantages of being a Hijinx Assistant Facilitator include:

• You get to work with our incredible cohort of learning disabled and/or neurodivergent individuals

• You get the chance to expand/explore your own practice and learn more about working in an inclusive environment.

• You get to work with and learn from established artists currently working within the industry.

• Our Assistant Facilitators sometimes have the opportunity to become involved in other Hijinx projects as part of the devising and support team.

• Flexibility – We rota on a termly basis based on our Assistant Facilitators availability, allowing you plenty of time to plan your other commitments around your work with Hijinx.

However, we understand that as freelancers occasionally opportunities come up which cannot be turned down, therefore we are happy for cover to be arranged from our pool of Assistant Facilitators when necessary.

• All Assistant Facilitators also have access to our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) and other freelancer support channels.

• We also have our North Young People’s Theatre and Academy groups operating in the area, so once an Academy Assistant Facilitator there may be the opportunity to span all North based activity.

Our Assistant Facilitator rate of pay is £85 per day, or £42.50 per half day inclusive of travel. A Drama Foundations Day typically runs from 9.15am – 3.15pm.
