Film Festival – Llanelli

LLANELLI.

We are taking Unity’s first Film Festival to Llanelli. We have packed a programme full of feature films, short films, animations, live action, documentaries and some world premieres and sneak previews before they are shown anywhere else.

Here is what we have planned: 

 

🎥 SHORTS SESSION 1 🎥

 

2pm 

In this session we will be sharing more of the best short inclusive films made here in the UK and internationally. 

 Film screenings will include: 

  • Glitch (Wales) – hot on the heels of its World Premiere in Cardiff. Dir. Daniel McGowan, produced by Hijinx in partnership with Bad Wolf. 
  • An Irish Goodbye (Northern Ireland) – dirs. Tom Berkeley, Ross White; produced by Floodlight Pictures.
  • Stairs (Mongolia) – produced by Bus Stop Films.
  • Love (England) – dir. Jane Ashmore.
  • The Secret Life of Tom Lightfoot (England/Wales) – dir. Ray Jacobs, produced by Arty Party.

Following the screenings there will be a Q & A with some of the creators and cast of the films in person and online.

4.45pm – Sanctuary (Ireland)

A brilliant, hilarious, touching film from Ireland that helped bring about a change in the law. 

Larry and Sophie, two people with intellectual disabilities, long to be together in a world that does everything to keep them apart.

As part of the Unity Film Festival, we are showing four short films showcasing some of the best inclusive films created by and with neurodiverse artists. This session includes live action shorts, animation, and a world premiere of a new film from Hijinx. 

 Films will include: 

  • Stones and Dust (Wales) – hot on the heels of its World Premiere in Cardiff. Dir. Daniel McGowan, produced by Hijinx in partnership with Bad Wolf.
  • Filters (Australia) – dir. Lianne Mackessy, produced by Bus Stop Films. 
  • Mattricide (England)– dir. Gemma Trigg, produced by Warpdog.
  • The Matthew Purnell Show (Wales) – dir. Daniel McGowan, produced by Hijinx.

Following the screenings there will be a Q & A with some of the creators and cast of the films in person and online.

8.15pm – Theo & The Metamorphosis (France/Switzerland)

Third Sneak Preview UK screening! 

This is your chance to see a sneak preview before it’s distributed across the UK. 

Already scooping awards at some of the most well-known Film festivals in Europe, the film follows Théo, a 27-year-old with Down’s syndrome, who lives in a secluded forest with his father. Every day he trains his body to become a samurai. One day his father goes leaves and Théo decides to start a new life. 

This dazzling, daring film fuses beauty and boldness and demands to be seen. Unity Film Festival is thrilled to be screening this special sneak preview.
