Having closed our activity last Monday evening, we’ve spent the last few days coming to terms with not seeing our fantastic Hijinx actors, participants and team of both freelance and core staff every week; not being with our creative partners developing new work; or training clients out in businesses. It’s quite a change, but the right one to make sure to keep everyone safe and healthy.
But there’s nothing like a crisis to be a catalyst for creative thinking, so today we start working in a whole new way to make sure that although we can’t be in the same room together, we can keep in touch with our Hijinx family over the coming weeks and months.
So, we’re moving our brilliant community online, just for a while; by starting new digital channels for each of our groups, where they can meet, chat and have a weekly check in with the Hijinx team. We’ll be setting tasks and challenges, developing skills, inspiring creativity, and definitely having some fun!
We’re also planning to share some of our work online, building to an exciting premiere in a few weeks’ time - watch this space!
We know it’s going to be a tricky time, but we also know that that the magical Hijinx family is tough, tenacious and resilient, and that we all will stay strong and support each other.
In the meantime, we’ll keep on planning for the future, more great productions, more creative collaborations and more exciting opportunities for our fabulous Hijinx Actors.
As a charity, the current situation is a real challenge, as some elements of our income will inevitably decrease drastically, whilst others may disappear entirely. So, we’re grateful, as ever, for any donations that people might wish to make to support our ongoing work, if you would like to donate please go to www.hijinx.org.uk/donate or follow the link on Facebook - our sincere thanks to you.
At Hijinx we love what we do, because it really matters, and we are determined to come back from this challenge bolder and stronger than ever. We hugely appreciate your love and support along the way and send all our best wishes to friends and family to stay safe.
As human beings this way of life is not our natural instinct, but we implore that you heed government advice to stay home or maintain social distancing if out and about. All the evidence suggests that this situation is going to get worse before it gets better, certainly that is what we hear from our friends in Italy, Spain and France. The simple fact is that by practicing social distancing you will save lives.
We’re here if you need us, the Hijinx light stays on and glowing brightly!
