Odyssey Casting Call: The Silent Toy Soldier

Do you have a passion for performing? A desire to tread the boards? 

Hijinx Odyssey, a well-established community theatre group for performers with and without disabilities, is recruiting budding actors to join its ranks for this year’s Christmas production of The Silent Toy Soldier at Wales Millennium Centre (3-5 December).

Odyssey, the community arm of professional theatre company Hijinx, was established in 1999 for people of all abilities who have a passion for performing. Today Odyssey unites a unique mix of performers of all ages (18+) and is renowned for having a family feel. Its shows are cast with talented enthusiasts and produced by a professional team of directors, designers and production staff.

We are currently looking for performers without disabilities to join the group for The Silent Toy Soldier, a delightful reworking of E. T. A. Hoffmann’s ‘The Nutcracker and The Mouse King’. If you are interested in auditioning and would be available for rehearsals as per the schedule below, we would love to hear from you.

REHEARSAL SCHEDULE

Weekly rehearsals: each Monday evening from 7-9pm, Cardiff Bay
Production Weekend 1: 21 & 22 November, Wales Millennium Centre
Production Weekend 2: 28 & 29 November, Wales Millennium Centre
Production Week: 30 November – 5 December (evenings), Wales Millennium Centre
Performances: 3, 4, 5 December, 7pm; 5 December, 3pm, Wales Millennium Centre

Auditions will be held on Monday 5 October in Cardiff Bay. To register to audition please email jon.kidd@hijinx.org.uk and more details will be sent to you. Please include a paragraph (no more than 100 words) on your performance experience to date.
