Audition day for the new Hijinx Academy

Calling all learning disabled performers!
Hijinx Academy Auditions: December 15th 2pm – 5pm
Call 02920 300 331 for info

Are you over 18? Do you have a learning disability? Do you want to become a performer? Then the Hijinx Academy is the place for you!

From January 2012 Hijinx Theatre will launch the all new Hijinx Academy. Based at Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff, and run in partnership with Vision 21, the Academy will be an ongoing performance training course which will run for 2 days per week (Thursday and Friday) for up to 12 dedicated adults with learning disability.

The course will be led by Gaynor Lougher and Ben Pettitt-Wade of Hijinx Theatre, aided by a team of highly skilled tutors. Throughout the first year of the course there will also be the opportunity for students to take part in further training from some of the most respected and exciting performance companies and practitioners in Europe.

The aim of the Academy is to continue to develop and maintain the skills of performers we already work with in our professional productions alongside finding and nurturing new talent. The course will act as a route to employment, not just in our professional touring work, but also in our Outreach programme and forum theatre work.

Alongside this higher skills course we run a basic drama course called Creative Choices for which places are available. This course runs each Wednesday, again at Chapter; therefore we are interested in meeting performers with learning disability who would be interested in either of these opportunities. Both courses are run in partnership with Vision 21.

Audition and Information Day

If you have an interest in performing or would like to find out more about either course, we are holding an afternoon workshop to meet people on Thursday 15th December from 2pm – 5pm. To put your name down for this please contact us on 02920 300 331 or email
