Johnny grew up in Bradford, West Yorkshire. After training as an actor - and playing the star role of Santa in one school touring production - he made the move into working with children and young people. Working in the education departments of theatres across England, Johnny was a Youth Theatre leader, schools liaison and festival coordinator.

In September 2016, Johnny made the move to Cardiff to study on the MA Arts Management at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. While on the course he was attracted by the shiny world of fundraising, completing a placement with fundraising consultancy The Funding Centre. Johnny has joined Hijinx in 2017 as part of the Arts & Business Cymru Creative Internships programme in Fundraising.
