Past Outreach Workshops
Outreach is hotting up for the summer! July 2006
It has been a very busy time for Outreach. Since April, Outreach has undertaken many workshops and projects and planning is hotting up for future projects.
Outreach has just finished a 10 week project with Rhondda Cynon Taff day services. The Llanharan group meeting once per week on a Friday have learnt many drama skills, developed confidence and improved social and communication skills during their sessions. We hope to continue this important partnership after the summer.
A four week project took place with Vale People First in Barry. The members took part in weekly communication and assertiveness workshops and tried out through image theatre and role play various assertiveness techniques. This is the second time that these workshops have taken place with members from the Vale and we hope that this will continue again after the New Year.
On July 18th at 2pm at St Davids Hall, Hijinx Outreach and the St Davids Hall Soundworks project will be sharing the visual story that has been devised by people from Cardiff day services. Entitled, The Lost Call, the project combines two groups that meet alternate Tuesdays who will share the process of creating a visual story with the audience.
Hijinx were also working hard for Carers week 2006. Not only did Hijinx perform Seize the Day at Cwmparc Hall for the Rhondda Carers Project on the Monday but Outreach facilitated a drama workshop on the Thursday for Bridgend Carers. The theme this year was In sickness and in health and Outreach hopefully instilled some positive wellbeing and much needed fun into the day.
At the end of July, Outreach is facilitating a week long summer school with members from Bridgend People First. The theme is on bullying and the informal sharing on the Friday at Maesteg Town Hall will be entitled Peeling Away the Masks. We will be looking at the masks that we sometimes play and what lies underneath those masks.
Finally, in September, Outreach is working at the All Wales People First conference in Llandrindod Wells. The theme this year is Government in Action so watch this space for some very creative lobbying and protesting!
