A Life Less Ordinary

Hijinx Theatre are celebrating their 25th anniversary this year and what a year it already promises to be! Hijinx have been collaborating with Cardiff People First on an outreach project entitled A life less ordinary with 10 members from Young People First, a group of young people with a learning disability. The group have been exploring their aspirations and fantasies and have created a comic book of 10 different stories where each individual becomes their aspirational character by the end of the story. The group have been exploring theatre skills including storytelling and creating larger than life characters over six sessions and all participants have been performing in each other’s stories. The group received a copy of the finished comic book and also a copy of the DVD that has been created documenting the process.

Nick Llewellyn, Hijinx Outreach Officer said,“This has been a fantastic opportunity for us to collaborate with the Cardiff People First group. The Young People seemed to have really grown in confidence, had a laugh but most importantly explored their dreams and aspirations for the future.”
