Past Outreach Workshops 2008
Disability Arts Cymru & Hijinx Animation project - Desperate Dai
March 2009
Back in early 2008 Sara Beer at Disability Arts Cymru had the idea to create a Welsh entry for the Oska Bright Film Festival. The Oska Bright Film Festival is based in Brighton and is run by and for people with learning disability. It showcases films made by learning disable film makers.

Sara gave me a call and we helped to put a group together of individuals we know had a interest in film. In the end we had a day's workshop to create the story and draw pictures for the animation.
The group was Martin, Matthew, Saul, Dominique and Simon. They came up with a fantastically imaginative story, recorded all the sound we needed and drew all the pictures. Our filmmakers Michael Day and George Auchterlonie then worked with the group to create the animation.

We then sent the finished film to Oska Bright and I'm delighted to say it was selected to be screened as part of their 2009 film festival. We are now traveling up to Brighton the see Desperate Dai on the big screen on the 19th of November!
The film will then be touring the country in 2010 as part of the Oska Bright Film Festival Road Show, so look out for it coming to screen near you!
