Rhondda Cynon Taff Day Services - The Forest
Hijinx and Touch Trust Collaboration
October - November 2008
This project came from a request from RCT to create a project for up to 8 of their services users with more severe learning disabilities. To do this we decided to work with Touch Trust to create a multi-sensory movement and storytelling experience.

The five sessions hinged around the story of a tree in a forest who keeps wishing he had different leaves. He gets leaves of gold, feathers and a wool coat. The culmination of each session was when the little tree got its new coat, as we filled the room with an explosion of gold, feathers and a web of wool.

The sessions also featured music led by our musician Laura Bradshaw, with part of the session run as a workshop in which participants created sounds and music to go with the story, so by the end of the 5 weeks all participants were fully involved in the telling of the story, adding their own sound effects as the story was told.
The sessions also began and finished with gentle movement sessions led by Charlotte Aubrey and Dave Morris from Touch Trust.
The project was extremely well received and it was fantastic to be working in collaboration with another Wales Millennium Centre resident.
