Undod/Unity Festival

Undod/Unity Festival
June 2008

The first Undod/Unity Festival came to an all singing all dancing end on Friday the 20th June. A week of inclusive arts including films, art installations, dance, theatre performances and workshops was marked by a spectacular costumed samba procession around the bay and performance on the Tesco Stage. This was then followed by an exhilarating performance of "as the mother of a brown boy" by Chickenshed.

Hijinx would like to send a big thank you to everyone who came down to Wales Millennium Centre to support the festival. This was the first festival that Hijinx have ever organised and the first inclusive arts festival to take place in Wales. It was fantastic to see so many people coming into Wales Millennium Centre and taking part in workshops and seeing some of the fantastic film screenings and performances which were on offer. It was particularly rewarding to meet groups who came from as far as St Davids, Llandovery, Port Talbot and other areas of Wales just to be a part of the week.

Also a big thank you to everyone who performed at the festival and ran workshops - Theatr Ffynnon, Chickenshed, Oska Bright Film Festival, Touch Trust, Mencap Cymru, inc.Theatre Ensemble, Trinity Care Club, Circles Network, Odyssey Pods, Ceredigion People First and Hijinx!

Another thanks to Mencap Cymru, Disability Arts Cymru, Film Agency For Wales, Wales Millennium Centre and Touch Trust who worked with us in various ways to make the dream of an inclusive arts festival a reality. And of course a huge thanks to all the Hijinx volunteers who ensured that the week ran smoothly!

For the real story of the week have a look through the photos. If you missed it all this year, look out for next year!
