Past Outreach Workshops
I Can Do That Oct 2008
This project was delivered in partnership with Screenability, who found the funding for the project through the European Social Fund. The theme of the project was employment and the project involved drama and film working with a core group of 14 participants from Bridgend Young People First.
Sessions were run for a couple of hours a week over 7 weeks. In these sessions the group took part in different exercises to increase confidence, assertiveness and to bring the group together as a team. We also used drama techniques to look at different aspects of getting a job. Over time everyone also got the chance to practice using the filming equipment and being filmed by it.
Through the sessions the group came up with three stories about a first day in work. We then had three days of filming on location, with members of Bridgend Young People First taking up roles in their own film and assisting in the filming.
We were also joined on the project by Stuart Campbell, Gareth Clark (from Odyssey) and Simon Richards as Workshop Assistants, who did a great job in assisting me to demonstrate and lead games.
Filming has now finished and is being edited by Screenability. Here are some of the comments the participants made about the project:
Lee: It gave me a vision of what work can be like
Katie: We learnt how to help each other
Lloyd: It was brilliant!
