Peeling Away The Masks Returns

In July 2006, Hijinx Outreach undertook a week long residency with young members from Bridgend People First entitled Peeling Away the Masks. The devised piece explored the issues of bullying by looking at the masks that are often played through masks, drama, sign language and art.

Outreach Officer ~ Nick Llewellyn ~ director of the piece said, "The week long process was a very interesting exploratory time with the participants where we truly investigated who the main characters were and what really lies beneath them. The participants did a fantastic job in relaying this to the audience with one member of the audience standing up after the show saying that it was the best performance that he had ever seen!"

The good news is that we are showing the piece again! The Wales Millennium Centre Artsexplorer has kindly offered us a slot on the Tesco Foyer Stage at 1pm on Thursday 23rd November. The event takes place during anti – bullying week and it is a great opportunity to show the emotive piece once again to a wider audience during this important week. This is a free event and it would be great if you could come and support the young people!
